    Beginning on June 8, 2024, a cyberattack attributed to the BlackSuit ransomware group disrupted Niconico and other KADOKAWA-owned websites. Niconico was taken offline and returned initially in a feature-limited form based on backup data. The attackers later claimed to have stolen business contracts and user information and threatened to publish the material.
