Court rules in Tencent Music’s favor in copyright dispute
Ruling
In a copyright dispute between Tencent Music and NetEase Cloud Music over songs by Jay Chou, the Shenzhen Qianhai Cooperation Zone People’s Court ruled in favor of Tencent Music. The court ordered the NetEase-related defendants to pay Tencent Music RMB 850,000 in economic losses and reasonable expenses for stopping the infringement. The court dismissed Tencent Music’s other claims.

Jay Chou recording copyright dispute
After a licensing arrangement with Tencent ended, NetEase Cloud Music released a paid collection containing Jay Chou songs. Tencent Music sued over copyright and related rights. The court supported part of Tencent Music's claim and ruled that NetEase Cloud Music had infringed rights associated with the recordings.
