Arctic radioactive-waste dumping disclosures
The Yablokov Report described the dumping of approximately 2.5 million curies of liquid and solid radioactive waste in the Arctic Ocean by the Northern Fleet and Murmansk Shipping Company between 1959 and 1991. The disclosures generated strong criticism from environmentalists and made the company's nuclear-related legacy a major public issue.
