Backlash over Sequoia Capital investment
Mubi faced criticism after Sequoia Capital invested in the company. Critics objected to Sequoia's association with Kela, an Israeli defence-technology startup, and called for boycotts or for Mubi to reject the investment. Mubi said its mission and views were separate from those of its investors, condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and announced an ethical funding policy, an Artists Advisory Council, and expanded support for filmmakers affected by conflict, displacement, or censorship.
