Minimum-wage underpayment linked to staff clothing deductions
HM Revenue and Customs reported that deductions for clothing employees were required to wear at work caused 1,438 UK workers to be underpaid by more than £104,000 in total. The company was fined more than £28,000 and subsequently introduced a clothing allowance and raised wages.
