The Mondadori war and judicial corruption case
A dispute over control of Mondadori involved Fininvest, CIR and the Formenton family. After conflicting arbitration and court decisions, an investigation concluded that appellate judge Vittorio Metta had been corrupted in connection with the ruling that returned the shares to Silvio Berlusconi. Metta was convicted after further appeals, while Berlusconi was not sentenced because the limitation period had expired.
