Denise Ganas life-insurance claim controversy
Momentum rejected the life-insurance claim of the family of Denise Ganas, who was shot and killed during an attempted hijacking, citing a previously undisclosed high-blood-sugar condition. After intense public criticism, Momentum granted the claim, engaged with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority and agreed to amend its policy so that violent-crime claims up to R3 million would be paid regardless of pre-existing medical conditions.
