Reported unauthorized adware on Canvas Fire
A Reddit report and subsequent investigation by the XDA community alleged that advertising software was installed or updated covertly on a Micromax Canvas Fire A093 handset. The software was also reported to consume data, storage, memory and battery resources.
2014
Cyanogen licensing dispute involving OnePlus One
A Delhi High Court order temporarily blocked OnePlus One sales in India because Cyanogen had an exclusive arrangement with Micromax’s YU business for India. The restriction was later lifted after the court considered the parties’ different licensing arrangements.
2013
Ericsson standard-essential patent dispute
Ericsson sued Micromax for alleged infringement of patents essential to 2G and 3G standards. The Delhi High Court required royalty payments based on the net selling prices of relevant devices. Micromax separately complained to the Competition Commission of India about Ericsson’s licensing practices.
