Portland gas explosion involving Loy Clark
A gas explosion in Portland, Oregon, involving MDU Resources subsidiary Loy Clark destroyed a building, damaged nearby properties, dispersed asbestos fragments, and injured eight people. The Oregon Public Utility Commission faulted Loy Clark for failing to provide regulators with sufficient notice of excavation plans. OSHA also cited and fined the company for safety violations.
