Studénka train disaster
On 8 August 2008, a bridge being renovated by Max Bögl’s Czech subsidiary BÖGL a KRÝSL k.s. collapsed onto the railway line at Studénka. An EuroCity train struck the debris, killing eight people and injuring 97. The subsequent criminal proceedings ended in 2017 with acquittals for all accused persons because of insufficient evidence.
