HIT–Big Idea distribution lawsuit
Following the Lyrick acquisition, Big Idea announced that its general-market distribution would move to Warner Home Video. HIT Entertainment sued, arguing that a draft agreement was binding, while Big Idea said the terms were still under negotiation. A trial in 2003 initially awarded HIT $11 million in punitive damages, but the judgment was overturned on appeal. The Supreme Court later declined to hear the case.
