Ethylene oxide warnings and recalls
Several European countries and Taiwan issued health warnings after reports of ethylene oxide in certain Lucky Me! products, leading to recalls in several markets. Monde Nissin rejected the allegations of non-compliance, said the products were registered with the Philippine Food and Drug Administration, and explained that ethylene oxide was used in spices to control microbial growth. The company maintained that any residual traces in seasonings and sauces were within applicable safety limits.
