Deloitte audit-liability litigation
The Supreme Court of Canada held that Deloitte had liability in relation to negligence in auditing Livent's 1997 financial year, while narrowing the basis and amount of the damages award.

Fraud and forgery convictions of former executives
Garth Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb were convicted in Ontario of fraud and forgery relating to Livent's financial statements for the 1993–1998 period. Drabinsky received a seven-year sentence that was later reduced to five years on appeal; Gottlieb received six years.
