Livedoor securities and accounting scandal
Tokyo prosecutors investigated Livedoor and associated executives for securities-law and accounting violations. Raids, arrests and the resulting loss of investor confidence caused a dramatic share-price decline and led to the company’s delisting. Takafumi Horie and other executives were later convicted or sentenced. The case prompted extensive civil litigation and became a major Japanese corporate-governance controversy.
