Odor complaints involving the Maisons-Alfort plant
Residents petitioned over odors associated with the Biospringer facility. Technical work intended to reduce the nuisance was undertaken in September 2025, but complaints reportedly continued through December.

Fine concerning Seine water withdrawals
On 14 November 2024, the Val-de-Marne prefecture imposed a €15,000 administrative fine after finding that authorized limits on Lesaffre's withdrawals from the Seine had been exceeded during 2016–2024.

Ammonia leaks at the Biospringer facility
On 6 April 2023, two ammonia leaks were detected in a storage tank at the Biospringer facility in Maisons-Alfort. Two workers sustained minor injuries. The following day, around 500 nearby residents were advised to remain indoors and nearby schools were temporarily closed as a precaution.
