Jujuy land occupation and eviction
An occupation of approximately 15 hectares of company land by around 700 indigent families ended in a violent eviction in August. Four people died, and the provincial legislature later expropriated 40 hectares of Ledesma's land.

Night of the Blackout
During Argentina's military dictatorship, two July blackouts in the Ledesma area were followed by security operations against political activists, unionists, and other civilians. The source account states that company vehicles were used in the operations and that approximately 300 to 400 people were kidnapped, with 55 still missing.
