Controversy over Juneteenth event language
A promotional description for a planned Juneteenth event used language about “the massa himself” and “white refugees.” The wording was condemned by Mecklenburg County, Huntersville, and Charlotte's mayor. The event was cancelled and Latta Place was temporarily closed; site manager Ian Campbell defended the post.
