    Marshall Broadcasting Group, then the owner of KSHV, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December 2019. Marshall also sued Nexstar, alleging that Nexstar's conduct damaged the company's business and was intended to enable the stations' eventual return through Mission Broadcasting. The dispute was followed by Mission's acquisition of Marshall's stations in 2020 and Nexstar's later direct acquisition of KSHV.
