Christine Craft employment-discrimination case
KMBC-TV anchor Christine Craft was removed from her anchor role after approximately seven months. Craft alleged that the decision was influenced by judgments about her age and appearance and sued Metromedia. She ultimately lost, but trial testimony concerning appearance standards for news anchors brought national scrutiny to the station and broader questions about unequal treatment of women in television news.
