RehabCare Medicare therapy billing settlement
Kindred Healthcare and RehabCare Group agreed to pay $125 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit and related investigation concerning Medicare therapy claims. Former RehabCare therapists alleged that some skilled-nursing residents were assigned therapy levels that were not medically justified and that certain services were not reasonable, necessary, or performed.
