Late-payment and administration fee controversy
CHOICE reported that some InvoCare funeral homes added a late-payment or administration fee of A$352 in advance to invoices. After initially defending the charge, InvoCare announced that it would remove the fee in 2020. CHOICE later gave the company a 2020 Shonky Award.

Burial-site plaque representations
The ACCC reported that InvoCare had allegedly made a false or misleading representation to customers who had prepaid burial sites by suggesting that they were required to purchase memorial plaques from InvoCare. The company paid a penalty of A$102,000.
