Controversy over KUID documentaries and state funding
Two KUID-produced documentaries concerning logging practices and lead exposure generated strong political opposition. The controversy was followed by an approximately 90 percent reduction in Idaho state funding for public television, increasing the stations' dependence on federal support and private contributions.
