Planning dispute over the original Hilton tower
The first Hilton-related tower proposed for Barcelona's Diagonal was reported to exceed legal limits for building height and volume by approximately 40 percent. Courts ordered demolition of the excess, but the order was not carried out and litigation continued for years. The dispute was ultimately resolved through a change of use: a private company converted the building into the Barcelona Hospital, an arrangement accepted by the courts.
