Alleged counterfeit Simply Heinz relabeling scheme
An alleged scheme was discovered in which regular Heinz ketchup containing high-fructose corn syrup was reportedly repackaged in bottles carrying counterfeit labels for Simply Heinz, a product associated with sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup. The unattended site was reportedly found after some bottles fermented and exploded. Heinz said it was working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Criminal Investigation.
