    Mixed-oxide fuel quality-data falsification

A Nuclear Installations Inspectorate investigation found that BNFL personnel had falsified some mixed-oxide fuel quality-assurance data from 1996 onward. The investigation criticised the company’s inadequate control and supervision. BNFL compensated Kansai Electric, took back an affected Japanese shipment and saw chief executive John Taylor resign. The crisis also delayed proposals for partial privatisation.
