FRC fines Deloitte £6.05m over Go-Ahead audits

    Fine or penalty

The UK Financial Reporting Council fined Deloitte £6.05 million over failures in its audits of Go-Ahead Group, a transport company. The regulator identified a "highly concerning pattern of failure" and numerous breaches of audit requirements between 2016 and 2020. These included a failure to challenge two Go-Ahead subsidiaries that had wrongfully retained more than £30 million of public money for an extended period. The Financial Reporting Council reduced the sanction from £11 million to £6.05 million, citing Deloitte's co-operation and admissions. The event was reported on 8 October 2026.

    Company response

    • Apology — Deloitte UK

We regret that aspects of our audit work did not meet the standards expected and have learned from this matter.

    Southeastern financial misconduct

The Department for Transport terminated Go-Ahead’s Southeastern franchise after identifying financial reporting failures.
