Competition investigation following 11street complaint
After rival 11street alleged that Gmarket or its eBay-operated marketplace had abused a dominant position, the Korea Fair Trade Commission investigated the business, issued a corrective order, and imposed a fine. The related criminal inquiry was later closed without charges by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, which found that the alleged conduct had not produced a sufficient restriction of competition.
Counterfeit merchandise risk
