CIEX report and historical Reserve Bank support allegations
The CIEX investigation and subsequent controversy concerned historical financial support involving Bankorp and the South African Reserve Bank. FNB was among the banks discussed in public allegations that state assistance had been improperly disguised or distributed. A later Public Protector report was set aside by the High Court, and the Constitutional Court confirmed that outcome. The court proceedings did not establish the allegations as valid against FNB.
