SEC settlement over debt-collection practices
Federated settled an SEC investigation concerning practices in which credit-card debtors were asked to sign repayment agreements connected with bankruptcy. The agreements were not properly filed with bankruptcy courts and therefore were not legally binding in the intended manner. The settlement was reported at $14.46 million.
