Dispute over MP3-derived mastering allegations
Collectors questioned whether Edsel's Robert Palmer reissues had been mastered from compressed MP3 files after audio analysis identified a 16 kHz frequency cutoff and stereo artifacts. Edsel manager Val Jennings rejected the allegation, while an independent producer consulted by SuperDeluxeEdition said the examined characteristics were consistent with an MP3-derived source.
