Dispute over Bushmen rights and mining-related displacement
Survival International has accused the Botswana government of harassment and relocation of Bushmen in policies it associates with conservation and possible mining interests. Former Debswana managing director Louis Nchindo defended the government's position in comments cited by the reference material. Survival International disputed that view, while the Botswana government rejected or characterized the allegations as exaggerated. The reference also notes that Debswana's listed mines are outside the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, where much of the dispute has been focused.
