    Rose symbol legal dispute

Following the end of Cotton Traders' Rugby Football Union kit-supply contract, the company continued to sell a white rugby shirt bearing a red rose associated with England. The RFU and Nike sought to stop sales as unauthorised merchandise. The High Court ruled for Cotton Traders, finding that the traditional rose design signified England or the English team and was not exclusively identifiable with the RFU.
