Concerns over manipulation of online ratings and rankings
Collactive faced ethical criticism because its APB and Web Assistant system could coordinate and automate votes and comments on websites that measured popularity. Critics argued that such activity could amount to vote-stuffing or manipulation of online rankings. The controversy was also discussed in connection with the earlier Blue Frog project and the possible use of similar tools for political lobbying.
