Cloudera settles US worker discrimination case
Settlement
Cloudera reached a $2 million settlement with the US Justice Department and Department of Labor over allegations that it discriminated against qualified American workers in recruiting for seven positions under the PERM program. The agreement bars Cloudera from the program for two years, provides for compensation and civil penalties, and resolves the lawsuit without a finding of liability following a full trial.
Source excerpt
US technology company Cloudera has been barred from the employment-based green card labour certification programme for two years after reaching a $2 million settlement with the US Justice Department and Department of Labor. The agreement follows allegations that the company discriminated against qualified American workers while recruiting for seven positions under the Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme.
The settlement resolves the lawsuit but does not amount to a finding of liability following a full trial.
In a release, the DOJ announced a fine of $1.4 million against Cloudera for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), saying the data management firm discriminated against US workers when recruiting and hiring for seven positions under the PERM process.
