    After the Great Kantō earthquake, mob violence in the breakdown of public order led to killings of Koreans and other minorities in parts of Chiba, including Funabashi, Ichikawa and areas around Yachiyo. A later memorial was erected near Yachiyodai Station for victims recorded in that locality.
