Golden Key Credit Card collapse
The failure of Golden Key Credit Card Co., a subsidiary of Ceylinco Consolidated, became a major scandal affecting the wider Ceylinco group. Directors of Ceylinco Consolidated, including Lalith Kotelawala, were indicted on 91 charges.
Shareholder allegations against the board
Global Rubber Industries alleged irregular deals and payments and claimed that directors received excessive compensation while dividends were comparatively low. The Commercial High Court rejected all 15 interim applications sought by the shareholder.
