Carrian–Bank Bumiputra financial scandal
Carrian Group became involved in the scandal surrounding Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad and its Hong Kong subsidiary, Bumiputra Malaysia Finance. Allegations of accounting fraud, together with the murder of a bank auditor and the suicide of a company adviser, preceded the group’s collapse and exposed the dependence of its expansion on institutional borrowing.
