Carlsberg Britvic proposes closing Marston's Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent

Carlsberg Britvic announced proposals to close Marston's Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent together with the primary logistics operation based at that site next summer, affecting about 310 people. The company cited UK cask ale volumes more than halving in less than a decade, and said the brewery and logistics operation would continue to operate during the transition period while it works through a consultation. Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) chairman Ash Corbett-Collins called the announcement "an absolute disgrace".
