Criticism over continued free service access in Russia
Canva was criticized for continuing to provide free access to Russian users after suspending payment processing following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Canva said it had stopped financial transactions in Russia and retained access to support pro-peace and anti-war communication.

Canva data breach
A breach exposed information associated with approximately 139 million Canva accounts, including names, usernames, email addresses, geographic information and password hashes for some users. Canva subsequently reset passwords for users who had not changed them after the incident.
