Lawsuit filed
Rémy Cointreau filed a lawsuit against Canopy Growth alleging that its Quatreau CBD-infused sparkling drinks use a mark too similar to Cointreau and constitute trademark infringement. The complaint seeks, among other remedies, an injunction.
Source excerpt
According to a report by Thomson Reuters, the complaint filed last week in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York contends that Canopy’s line of recently launched CBD-infused sparkling drinks, which the licensed producer calls “Quatreau,” sounds too similar to “Cointreau” and, thereby, constitutes a trademark infringement.
French liqueur manufacturer Rémy Cointreau has filed a lawsuit against Canadian cannabis giant Canopy Growth.
Cointreau is seeking a permanent injunction to keep Canopy from infringing on its trademarks and wants any profits Canopy made on products with the allegedly infringing trademarks.
