United States 'Made from Real Ginger' litigation
Consumers alleged that the phrase “Made from Real Ginger” could lead buyers to believe that the beverage contained ginger root in a substantial or more direct form. The supplied reference states that the formulation used a natural flavor extract from ginger root. The settlement included payments of between US$5.20 and US$40 to eligible United States consumers and required the claim to stop being used in the United States.

Canadian ginger-labeling class action
A separate Canadian proceeding challenged the same general marketing concept. Canada Dry Mott’s Inc. agreed to pay C$200,000 inclusive of expenses and fees, plus C$18,607.61 in disbursements. The settlement did not require changes to Canadian labels or advertising; the class distribution was directed through a cy-près donation to the Law Foundation of British Columbia, with two lead plaintiffs receiving C$1,500 each.
