Caja Navarra's collapse as an independent savings bank was followed by allegations of mismanagement and opaque decision-making. The Government of Navarre's relevant supervisory body was criticized for failing to audit the institution adequately for several years. A parliamentary investigation panel established in January 2015 examined possible responsibilities, while reports also alleged that the regional government received brief and repetitive activity reports rather than effective oversight.
