    Glenwood Gardens CPR incident

At Brookdale's Glenwood Gardens community in Bakersfield, California, 87-year-old resident Lorraine Bayless collapsed in a dining area. A staff member declined to perform CPR after a 911 operator requested it. Brookdale initially cited an alleged policy concerning CPR in independent-living facilities, then said the policy had been misunderstood. Police closed the investigation without criminal charges, and Bayless's family said it did not plan to sue.
