Court order concerning a mobile-phone mast
A French appellate court ordered the removal of a mobile-phone mast in Charbonnières after residents challenged the installation and raised concerns about possible health effects from radiofrequency exposure. The decision emphasized continuing uncertainty and divergent regulatory approaches concerning the harmlessness of relay-antenna emissions, without establishing that the company’s network had caused proven injury.

Mobile-market anticompetitive coordination case
The French competition authority found that Orange France, SFR and Bouygues Telecom had exchanged confidential information about customer additions and cancellations and had engaged in practices that restricted competition. Bouygues Telecom received an individual fine of €58 million within a combined penalty of €534 million imposed on the three operators. The case concerned conduct from 1997 to 2003, and later legal efforts to overturn the decision were largely unsuccessful according to reference material.
