Criticism of polystyrene-cup environmental claims
Boost’s early use of polystyrene cups and its argument that the material used fewer raw materials and was theoretically recyclable attracted criticism. The concern was that many Australian councils did not recycle soft polystyrene cups, potentially making the environmental positioning appear inconsistent with real-world disposal conditions. Boost later changed to paper cups.
