Association with Warren Kanders and Safariland
Black Diamond faced criticism because its parent company was led by Warren Kanders, whose separate company Safariland manufactured tear gas used during protests. Activists and climbing organizations called for boycotts and questioned the brand's corporate association. Black Diamond acknowledged the concerns while announcing support for outdoor access for athletes of color.
