Conflict with the Tembé population
Biopalma, and later Brasil BioFuels, became involved in a conflict with the Tembé population concerning oil-palm activities. The dispute, referred to as the Oil Palm War, was investigated by Brazil's Federal Public Ministry.

Tax-structure investigation linked to the Vale sale
Brazil's Ministry of Finance examined whether Família MSP used transfers through Irajá Consultoria and a tax-exempt MSP investment fund to avoid taxes when Biopalma was sold to Vale. The case was closed on 20 November 2018 after authorities concluded that the transfer process was valid.
