Department of Justice grant-compliance dispute
A U.S. Department of Justice audit identified noncompliance with grant requirements, after which grant disbursements were frozen. BBBSA replaced members of its management team and adopted stronger financial and compliance controls. A settlement required a $1.6 million payment and additional measures including regular audits, a compliance team, a code of conduct, whistleblower protections, and disciplinary procedures. The settlement resolved allegations and did not establish liability.
