Electric shock death leads to fine; unpaid housing provident fund and labor disputes
In 2019, an electric shock accident at Biel Crystal's Huizhou plant wastewater treatment station killed one person; because it failed to investigate electric leakage hazards, the company was fined RMB 250,000 and the person in charge was fined RMB 21,600. The company has also been sued multiple times over labor disputes, and former employees have long complained about unpaid housing provident fund; in 2025 the Huizhou housing provident fund department ordered supplementary contributions.
