Unauthorized instruments sold as Bessons
From the late 1990s, a large number of poor-quality, Indian-made brass instruments appeared bearing the Besson name without being connected to the genuine company. The products included pocket trumpets, cornets, euphoniums, bugles and B-flat trumpets, and were frequently offered through online auctions. Reported identifying features included suspect serial numbers and crude construction. The instruments were described as difficult or impossible to play and tune, and were also associated with unauthorized use of other established manufacturers’ names.
